New Year New Tunes…
Rather late on the old chart front this month (sorry, sorry) but hey ho, it’s January and the music world has it’s annual new release constipation, so it’s taken a while to actually find some good new tunes to chart! Anyway, here are a few honourable mentions:
Post War Years are set to release their excellent new single ‘Whole World On It’s Head’, the demo version of which I’ve been playing for a few weeks. These guys are definitely ones to watch for 2009!
Banjo Or Freakout is the one man project of a dude called Alessio, an ex-pat Italian living in London. One of the few people to successfully my-spam me into liking his tunes, his demos have been a pleasure to listen to for a few months, and now he has debut single proper ‘Mr. No’ out on No Pain In Pop records. It’s backed with his fantastic cover of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Someone Great’.
And blast from the past – Mylo’s classic club smash gets a nice ‘09 reworking in the form of the ‘Electro Bass Remix’ – which is a horrible name for a surprisingly addictive mix which updates the original without killing it dead with gimmicks. I’m not sure if there’s a release planned or whether its just a net thing, but google it and enjoy !

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
