MICHAEL JACKSON, JESUS CHRIST…COCA-COLA, 2007

Meredith Danluck made a beautiful 12min video at a gathering of Michael Jackson fans in Japan, this was a meet and greet with the man himself, believe it or not. Pretty crazy.

Watch it here

I have been asked for more information about this video so this is what I have heard although I don’t know if it is 100% correct: It was made when Michael Jackson was doing some funny things to raise money, this event was in Japan and each fan paid $10,000 to attend. The film maker went to observe and document rather than judge or critique. She was not given any extra access, she was one of the group of fans.
Meredith Danluck is a New York based artist who creates all kinds of work but has done a lot of video work. The Renwick Gallery has quite a few of her recent pieces and you can watch clips on their site. Last year I posted a link to a documentary she made about the growing plastics problem in the Pacific, you can watch that here

I have put a bit more information above. I hope that helps. Her videos are shown at art galleries but also sometimes sold in limited runs. I think this is a clip of a longer video, I will try to find out and will post it here if I find any more info.
